Carrot Halwa is an Indian sweet, popularly known as Gajar ka halwa. It takes place on all special occasions like marriage, festivals, etc. Carrot halwa is originated in Punjab during the Mughal period. Carrot halwa is made with freshly grated carrot, milk, sugar, and served with cashews and chopped nuts.

Ingredients
  • 1 kg Grated carrot
  • 500 ml Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar (200 grams)
  • 8 tsp Ghee
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 2 tsp Chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat 6 tsp ghee.

  2. Add 1 kg grated carrot and mix well.

  3. Cover and cook for 25-30 minutes on medium flame.

  4. Keep stirring in between.

  5. Add 500 ml milk, mix gently and bring it to a boil.

  6. Cook covered on medium-low flame for 30 minutes.

  7. When the milk is halved, add 1 cup sugar and mix well.

  8. Keep stirring on a medium flame for 20 minutes.

  9. Add 2 tsp ghee, 1/2 tsp cardamom powder, 2 tsp chopped nuts.

  10. Keep stirring on medium-high flame for 5 minutes.

  11. Cook until the halwa thickens.

  12. Carrot halwa is ready now.
