Chili Bajji/Milagai Bajji

Chilli bajji is a tasty, crispy, and spicy snack. It is made with banana peppers, gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, and deep-fried in oil. Chilli bajji is stuffed with tamarind paste, salt, and chilli powder, which will give a tangy and spicy taste to the dish, which makes it yummy.

Ingredients
For Bajji
  • 6 Banana peppers (bajji milagai)
  • 1 cup Besan Flour|Gram flour
  • ¼ cup Rice flour
  • ½ tbsp Chili powder
  • ¼ tbsp Baking soda
  • ¼ tbsp Asafoetida
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil for frying
For Stuffing
  • 2 tbsp Tamarind paste
  • ½ tbsp Chili Powder
  • Salt as needed
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add 1 cup gram flour, 1/4 cup rice flour, 1/2 tbsp chilli powder, 1/4 tbsp baking soda, 1/4 tbsp asafoetida and needed salt.

  2. Combine everything well, now add water little by little and make a thick paste, and keep it aside.

  3. Slit the chilis and remove the seeds.

  4. In a bowl add 2 tbsp tamarind paste, 1/2 tbsp chilli powder, and needed salt and mix well.

  5. Stuff the tamarind paste inside chilis.

  6. Now dip the chilis in the prepared batter.

  7. Deep fry in hot oil, and cook till the bajjis become golden brown.

  8. Drain it in the paper towel and serve hot.

Recipe Notes
  • The batter is a basic one, apart from chilli you can use any other vegetable to make bajji.
  • If the chilis are spicy no need to add chilli powder to the stuffing mixture.
  • You can also make bajjis without stuffing tamarind paste.
  • Add more rice flour if you want to make the outer layer crunchy.
  • Serve bajji with coconut chutney or tomato sauce.
