Jeera rice is super quick rice made with rice and cumin seeds. You can make jeera rice in 25 minutes, which is perfect for a lunch box. Jeera rice does not contain any spice powder and can be eaten with any veg or non-vegetarian gravies like mushroom masala, paneer gravy or chicken gravy.
Soak the basmati rice for 10 minutes and after soaking drain the water and set aside.
Heat ghee in a pan/pressure cooker.
Add cinnamon, star anise, cardamom, and cloves, allow them to pop.
Add jeera, saute for a minute.
Add soaked basmati rice.
Add 1.5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.
Add the required salt and cook covered for 15 minutes or pressure cook 1 whistle.
Once done, fluff the rice with a spatula and serve hot.
