Quinoa Idli-Dosa | Quinoa Idli-Dosa Batter | How to make quinoa idli

Quinoa is a grain that provides, protein, fibre, B vitamins, and dietary minerals. There are lots of Quinoa recipes popular all over the world like quinoa salad, quinoa soup, slaw, quinoa chicken. Quinoa idli/dosa is a healthy breakfast. Quinoa idli also tastes like regular idli. The only difference is, it’s slightly brown in colour. You can make soft idli and crispy dosa with quinoa idli and dosa batter. It is preferable for diabetic patients. Quinoa idli goes well with all kinds of chutney and sambar.

Notes

  • For warm-weather 6 hours of fermentation is enough, if you are living in a cold region ferment for 8 hours.
  • You can 1/2 cup add poha, which will also give softness to the idli.
  • If you wish you can soak and grind urad dal separately, and mix with quinoa & rice batter.
  • Adding fenugreek seed is optional.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Quinoa
  • 1 cup Idli Rice
  • 1/2 cup Urad dal
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • Salt as needed
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add quinoa, idli rice, and urad dal, rinse 2-3 times and soak in plenty of water.

  2. In a small bowl add fenugreek seeds, rinse and soak separately.

  3. Soak everything for 4 - 6 hours.

  4. Once done, in a mixer jar or wet grinder, add fenugreek seeds and grind.

  5. Then add quinoa, urad dal and idli rice mixture.

  6. Make it a soft and fluffy paste.

  7. Add salt and mix well.

  8. Ferment the batter for 6 to 8 hours.

  9. Mix the fermented batter well. Grease the idli moulds with oil, pour the batter and steam cook for 8 -10 minutes.

  10. Serve hot with chutney or sambar.

4. Once done, in a mixer jar or wet grinder, add fenugreek seeds and grind. Then add quinoa, urad dal and idli rice mixture.

5.  Make it a soft and fluffy paste.

6. Add salt and mix well.

7. Ferment the batter for 6 to 8 hours.

8. Mix the fermented batter well. Grease the idli moulds with oil, pour the batter and steam cook for 8 -10 minutes.

9. Make thin dosas and cook on medium-low flame, and serve hot with chutney and Sambar.
