Spicy Tofu is a wonderful Indochinese dish that goes well with fried rice and noodles. Tofu made from soy milk, also known as bean curd, is the main source of protein. Tofu originated in China and is found in Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian and Thai cuisines.
The tofu can be soft, firm and extra firm, you can choose depending on your recipe, I used extra firm tofu in this recipe. Some other ingredients made from tofu include tofu scramble, veggie tofu stir-fry, baked tofu and garlic tofu.
How to prepare tofu for cooking?
There is a lot of water when it comes out of the tofu bag. To bake, fry or scramble tofu, it is best to squeeze out as much water as possible before cooking. The more you press your tofu, the firmer the texture will be and the smoother the texture will be.
- Use super firm tofu
- Wrap it in a paper towel
- Gently squeeze
- Repeat it with another towel, if needed

- 1 pack Tofu
- 1/2 tsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp Soy sauce
- Salt as needed
- 2 tsp Oil
- Few Garlic pods
- 2 tsp Green onion
- 1/2 tsp Soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp Chili sauce
- 1 tsp Tomato sauce
- Salt as needed

In a bowl add chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, and salt.

Add soy sauce and mix together.

Add the sliced tofu and mix gently until the tofu is coated with the spice mixture.

Keep it aside/ refrigerate for 40-50 minutes.

When done, fry the tofu with oil in a pan or skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on both sides over medium heat. Set aside.

Heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic saute for a minute.

Add green onions and cook for a few seconds.

Add chilli sauce, tomato sauce, and soy sauce.

Now add sautéed tofu, and mix everything well.

Garnish with green onions and serve hot.

3. Mix them.
4. Add sliced tofu, and mix gently till the tofu is coated with spice mixture. Keep it aside/ refrigerate for 40-50 minutes.
5. Once done, saute tofu in a pan or tawa with oil.
6. Cook on a medium flame for 1-2 minutes, on both sides. Set aside.
7. Heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic saute for a minute.
8. Add green onions and cook for a few seconds.
9. Add chilli sauce, tomato sauce and soy sauce.
10. Mix well.
11. Now add sautéed tofu, and mix everything well.
12. Sprinkle green onions, serve hot.
