It can be done very easily in less than 20 minutes. It is healthy as it is made with ingredients like ragi (finger millet) and jaggery and does not require any oil.
Some tips for making delicious ragi kozhukattai
- You can use either white or red aval.
- While roasting the ragi flour keep it on low flame and fry until fragrant.
- You can add ragi and an equal amount of jaggery is ideal or add jaggery according to your taste.
- You don’t need to boil the jaggery until it becomes a thick syrup, just boil until it is melted.

- Poha - ½ cup
- Grated coconut - ¼ cup
- Ragi flour - ½ cup
- Jaggery - ½ cup
- Salt - 1 pinch
- Cardamom powder - ¼ tsp
- Ghee - 1 tsp

To a mixing jar, add 1/2 cup of poha.

Finely grind it.

Place in a bowl.

Add shredded coconut to it.

Pour a pan with 1/2 cup of ragi flour.

Add it to the coconut mixture after it has been fried until fragrant.

Add a dash of salt and a quarter teaspoon of cardamom powder.

To a pan, add 1/2 cup of jaggery.

Boil it with 1/4 cup of water added.

Add the jaggery after it has dissolved and been filtered.

Mix everything after adding it.

It should be mixed with 1 teaspoon of ghee.

Then form pidi kozhukattai by rolling it into little balls and holding it in place with four fingers.

Place your kozhukattai on an idli plate that has been greased with ghee or oil.

It should be boiled for 10 to 12 minutes in an idli pan.

Method

1. Add ½ cup of poha to a mixing jar.
2. Grind it finely. Transfer to a bowl.
3. Add 1/4 cup grated coconut to it.
4. Then fry ½ cup of ragi flour.
5. Fry until fragrant and then add it to the coconut mixture.
6. Add a pinch of salt and ¼ tsp of cardamom powder to it.
7. Add ½ cup of jaggery to a pan.
8. Add ¼ cup of water to it and boil it.
9. After the jaggery dissolves, filter it and add it.
10. Add everything and mix well.
11. Add 1 tsp of ghee to it and knead it.
12. Then roll it into small balls and hold it with four fingers to shape pidi kozhukattai.
13. Grease an idli plate with oil or ghee and place your kozhukattai on it.
14. Put it in an idli pan and boil it for 10 to 12 minutes.
15. Delicious ragi kozhukattai is ready.
