Sweet Poha is an easy and tasty dish, it is effortless even learners can make it. It is a mid-morning or evening snack, sweet poha is a naivedyam/prasadam to Lord Krishna, this popular dish of India is called in many names. Generally, sweet poha is made with poha, jaggery, coconut, and cardamom. I have used sugar syrup. Apart from this, you can also use brown sugar/ palm sugar (karuppatti).
Other Varieties – sweet paniyaram, paruppu payasam, sweet pongal, badhusha, motichur ladoo, milk peda, palkova, Asoka halwa, wheat halwa, badam halwa, badam kheer, rava Kesari, mango Kesari, carrot halwa.
Ingredients
- Thick Poha – 1 cup
- Sugar – ¾ cup
- Coconut – ½ cup
- Cardamom – ½ tsp
- Salt – 1 pinch
Method
1. Rinse and soak poha for 30 minutes (or till it becomes soft).
2. Boil 1 cup of water in a pan, add sugar.
3. Bring it to boil, till it becomes a thick syrup.
4. Once the poha soaked well, drain water and keep it a bowl.
5. Add salt, cardamom powder, and grated coconut.
6. Add sugar syrup.
7. Combine well and serve.
