- 2 cups Drumstick leaves
- 1/2 cup Chopped onion/shallots
- 1 Red chili
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Urad dal
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 cup Toor dal
- 1 tsp Sambar powder
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- Salt as needed
- 4 tsp Grated coconut
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- Few Cashew nuts Optional

Remove the leaves from the stem, rinse 2 or 3 times.

Pressure cook the toor dal for 2 whistles.

In a mixer jar, add grated coconut, cumin seeds, cashew nuts and grind into a smooth paste with a little water and keep it aside.

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, allow it to pop, then add urad dal and red chilli.

Add the chopped onion and saute for 2-3 minutes.

Add the drumstick leaves, salt, and turmeric powder, mix everything well.

Add ¼ cup of water, and cook covered for 5-10 mins.

Now add cooked toor dal, sambar powder, asafoetida, and cook for 5 minutes.

Add the coconut paste, combine everything well, and then turn off the flame.

Serve hot with rice.

1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, allow it to pop, then add urad dal and red chilli.
2. Add the chopped onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
3. Then add drumstick leaves.
4. Add salt and turmeric powder, mix everything well.
5. Add ¼ cup of water, and cook covered for 5-10 mins.
6. Now add cooked toor dal.
7. Add sambar powder and asafoetida.
8. Mix everything well and cook for 5 minutes.
9. Meanwhile, add coconut, cashew nuts, and jeera to a mixer jar.
10. Make it a smooth paste.
12. Add the ground paste, combine everything well, and then turn off the flame.
13. Serve hot with rice.
