Nowadays pizza is very popular among the youth and children in India, as well as pizza is the most popular food all over the world. veg pizza, cheese pizza, cheese burst pizza, chicken pizza, pepperoni pizza and many more types of pizza are available.

Preparing pizza at home is easy but a little time consuming, but it is ok to spend some time preparing yummy food for our loved ones. Pizza preparation has 3 basic steps. 1. Pizza dough 2. Sauce and toppings 3. Baking. Pizza dough is simple to prepare at home, you can prepare pizza sauce or use store-bought one or you can use tomato ketchup. Toppings have no rules, you can use any of your favourite toppings like sausage, mushrooms, capsicum, olives, etc.,

Notes

  • Commonly plain flour/maida is used for pizza base you can also use whole wheat flour /Atta, it’s a healthier option.
  • For sauce either you can use store-bought or homemade sauce.
  • Another method for pizza sauce is to mix together store-bought tomato sauce/ketchup, onion powder, garlic powder, chilli powder, and Italian seasoning, it is easy to customise according to your taste.
  • Mozzarella and cheddar cheese are used for pizzas, you can also add Goat cheese or Ricotta along with Mozzarella, just make sure whatever cheese you choose, pairs well with other toppings. Cheddar cheese goes well with chicken pizza, ricotta cheese is best for broccoli or shrimp pizza.
  • The best part of the pizza is the endless toppings, I have used onion, bell pepper, mushroom, and black olives apart from this you can try it with spinach, pineapple, tomato, peach, egg, zucchini, broccoli, meat or seafood.
  • Here I give measurements for two 9-inch pizzas.

Ingredients
For pizza base
  • 1 cup Plain flour | Maida
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Yeast
  • 1/2 cup Hot water
For pizza sauce
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 5 Garlic pods
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Crushed pepper
  • 2 tsp Tomato sauce
For toppings
  • 2 slices Mozzarella cheese
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese
  • Few Onion slices
  • Few slices Bell pepper
  • Few Thinly sliced Mushrooms
  • Few Olives
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Crushed pepper
  • 1 tsp Oil
Instructions
Pizza Base
  1. In a bowl add 1 cup flour, 1 tsp yeast, 3/4 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp sugar. 

  2. Mix well and add 1/2 cup hot water, then knead it for 4-5 minutes and make a smooth dough.

  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it and set aside for at least 1 hour. 

Pizza Sauce
  1. In a saucepan add 1 cup of water and bring it to a boil.

  2. Chop the tomatoes, dip them in boiling water and add 1 chopped onion and 5 garlic cloves.

  3. Cook covered for 10-12 minutes.

  4. Now peel off the skin and make it a fine paste.

  5. Heat a pan and add the pureed tomatoes and bring it to a boil.

  6. Add 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, and 1/2 tsp salt and combine well.

  7. Now add 1 tsp sugar, 2 tsp oregano, 1/2 tsp crushed pepper, 2 tsp tomato sauce and mix well.

  8. Cook it on a medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes. 

  9. Once done keep it aside.

Pizza Toppings
  1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan add onion, capsicum, and mushroom pieces.

  2. Saute for a minute and add 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper, mix well and keep it aside.

Pizza
  1. Preheat the oven to 425F/215C or Heat a pan with a wire rack inside for 10 minutes on high flame.

  2. Punch the raised dough down and knead once again, then divide it into 2 pieces.

  3. Spread the dough to a 9-inch size and grease the pizza pan.

  4. Put the dough onto a pizza pan, press the edges.

  5. Prick it with a fork.

  6. Spread the required pizza sauce.

  7. Add 2 slices of chopped mozzarella cheese and other sauteed toppings.

  8. Add 2 slices of chopped cheddar cheese.

  9. Add olives and sprinkle some oregano.

  10. Keep the pizza pan inside the pan or oven.

  11. Cook for 15-20 minutes on medium-high flame or bake for 12-15 minutes or till golden brown.

  12. Once done transfer to a cooling rack and serve hot.

Method

Pizza Base
