A few tips to make delicious kara kozhukattai
- You can make kozhukattai with idiyappam flour, kozhukattai flour, or plain rice flour.
- If you’re using plain rice flour, roast it before adding it to the boiling water.
- Bring the water to a boil before adding it to the flour.
- If rice flour is added when the water is warm but not boiling, it will not cook.
- It is sufficient to cook the kozhukattai for 7 to 8 minutes. The rice flour is already cooked when it is added to the boiling water.

- Idiyappam flour/ kozhukattai flour - ½ cup
- Sesame oil - 2 - 3 tsp
- Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
- Urad dal - ½ tsp
- Curry leaves - few
- Dry chilli - 1
- Asafoetida - 1 pinch
- Salt - to taste
- Grated coconut - 4 tsp
- Water - 1 cup

Place 1/2 cup of rice flour in the pan.

On a low burner, fry for 3 to 5 minutes.

Boil a cup of water in a pan.

Add a dash of salt and one tsp of oil.

Stir in the boiling water to the rice flour.

Put the dough in a big bowl once it has come together.

Knead it gently once it is warm enough to handle.

Then shape it into tiny balls.

Place the rolled dough on the idli plate after rubbing it with oil.

Cook for 7-8 minutes after placing in the idli pan.

11. Stir in the steamed kozhukattai.
12. Finally, add the grated coconut and stir to combine.
13. Delicious kara kozhukattai is ready.
