- 2 Raw bananas
- 1/2 cup Onion/shallots Chopped
- 2 tsp Coconut (shredded)
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- Few Curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp Urad Dal
- 5 Garlic pods
- 1/2 tsp Chili powder/sambar powder
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt as needed

Wash and peel bananas, cut them into small pieces.

Boil 2 cups of water in a pan and add a pinch of salt and turmeric powder.

Place banana pieces in the water, cook covered for 5 minutes, or till the banana becomes soft and tender.

Once done, drain it with a colander.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, once it splutters add urad dal and curry leaves.

Add the onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Add the crushed garlic.

Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, and asafoetida.

Cook until the raw smell leaves.

Add the banana pieces and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add the grated coconut, give a quick stir.

Turn off the flame, leave it for a couple of minutes.

Serve hot with rice and sambar.
