Hamburger is called a burger in short. It is a popular street food; fast food lovers never miss burgers. There are so many burger varieties around the world, there are many variations according to their available ingredients. Cooked meat kept in bread or bun/sandwich bun is a burger. Burgers made with patties, onion, tomato, cheese, and sauce and picked vegetables.

If we use chicken patty in, it is a chicken burger, veggie burgers come up with meatless patties, burger patties are generally made with meat, but we can make veg patties with mixed vegetables like potato, carrot, beans peas, or any of your favorite veggies. Indian burgers are made with Indian spices and sauce as we need a little spiciness in our food. Preparing burger patties is the only time-consuming job for the burger, apart from this all you need is burger bun, mayonnaise, tomato sauce, onion, tomato, cucumber, and lettuce, assemble it on your preference.

While preparing a burger, you can use homemade or store-bought burger buns. Apart from potato, carrot, and peas, you can also add some more vegetables like beetroot, french beans, corn, etc. If you wish you can shallow fry, bake the patties / grilled patties also good for burgers. You can use hot & sweet sauce for spiciness. While assembling the burger, you can add a cucumber slice or pickled vegetable of your choice.

Indian style vegetable burger recipe

Ingredients
For Burger Patties
  • 1 cup chopped potatoes (3 medium sizes)
  • 1/2 cup carrots (2 medium sizes)
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp poha
  • salt as needed
  • 1/4 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp crushed pepper
  • 3 tbsp maida
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • oil for frying
For Burger
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp tomato ketchup/sauce
  • lettuce
  • 4 slice cheese
  • Few tomato slices
  • Few onion slices
Instructions
Burger Patties
  1. Chop 3 potatoes, 2 carrots, and steam cook the vegetables along with 1/4 cup of peas for 15 minutes or cook till the vegetables become soft.

  2. Once done mash the vegetables and combine well.

  3. Now add 1 chopped onion,1/4 cup of poha, needed salt, 1/4 tbsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tbsp crushed pepper and mix everything well.

  4. In a bowl add 3 tbsp of maida and water then make a thin paste.

  5. Prepare large patties with vegetable mixture.

  6. Dip in the maida paste and roll it in the bread crumbs.

  7. Deep fry the patties in hot oil.

  8. Cook for 2-3 minutes each side or cook till patties become golden brown.

  9. Once done drain it in a paper towel.

Burger
  1. Cut the burger bun into half, and apply 1 tbsp of mayonnaise one side.

  2. Spread 1 tbsp of tomato ketchup another side.

  3. Place burger patty.

  4. Place cheese slice, lettuce, tomato slice, and onion slice.

  5. Add little more tomato ketchup and close the bun.

  6. The yummy veg burger is ready to serve.
