Milk Sarbath is made using nannari syrup, almond resin, sabja seeds and milk. It has many amazing health benefits. It is popular in South India, especially in Kerala.

What is Almond Resin?

Almond resin is a natural gum derived from the sweet almond tree. It is white, light yellow or light brown in colour and is found in the form of small rocks on the bark of a tree. It is available in the Middle East, Pakistan, Turkey and Syria.

Benefits of Almond Resin

Used to cool the body naturally and alleviate body heat. Helps to boost the immune system. Helps to strengthen muscles. Consuming it regularly helps to prevent skin diseases that may occur in summer and is good to take during pregnancy.

Benefits of Sabja Seeds

Helps to keep the body cool naturally. Diabetics can take this to lower their blood sugar levels. Helps to lose weight and prevent heart disease.

Notes

  • You can use thick, full-fat milk or reduced-fat milk, milk can also be diluted. 
  • Nannari sarbath taste and sweetness will vary according to the brand so add it to your taste.
  • Milk sarbath can be made without the addition of almond resin and sabja seeds.
  • The almond gum looks like sugar crystals, and it takes about 10-15 hours to soak, so grind it finely and let it soak for two hours.
  • The remaining almond paste and sabja seeds can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Adding tutti frutti, almonds and cashews are optional.

Ingredients
  • Milk - 2 cups - 500ml
  • Nannari Syrup - 6 tbsp
  • Almond Resin - 4 - 5 Pieces
  • Sabja seeds - 2tsp
  • Almonds - 4
  • Cashew nuts - 4 
  • Tutti frutti - 2 tsp
Instructions
  1. Add 500ml of milk to a saucepan and boil.

  2. When the milk boils, turn off the stove and let it cool.

  3. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.

  4. Finely grind the almond resin. Pour a little water and soak for 2 hours.

  5. Take 2 tsp sabja seeds in a small bowl.

  6. Add ¼ cup of water and soak for 15 minutes.

  7. Add 1 tsp of soaked almond gum to a glass.

  8. Add 2 - 3 tsp of soaked sabja seeds.

  9. Chop almonds and cashews into small pieces. Add the required nuts.

  10. Add 1 tsp of tutti frutti with it.

  11. Then add 3 tbsp of nannari syrup.

  12. Add 1 cup of chilled milk.

  13. Mix well. Add a few ice cubes if desired.

  14. Finally, sprinkle with little crushed almonds and tutti frutti.

  15. Delicious milk sarbath is ready to serve.
