Notes
- Use onion for this recipe, since shallots are not suitable.
- Use ripe tomatoes for the best results.
- You can replace the red chilis with green chilis.
- Adding a small piece of tamarind will help if the tomatoes are not tangy.
- You can also add a small piece of jaggery while grinding, to enhance the taste.
- You can adjust chillis according to your taste.

- 2 Onions
- 2 Tomatoes
- 2 tsp Oil
- 10 Red chillis
- Salt as needed
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- Few Curry leaves

Heat oil in a pan, add 2 chopped onions and saute till they become translucent.

Add 2 chopped tomatoes and cook till they become mushy.

Add 10 red chillis, cook for a minute and turn off the flame. Let it cool.

Add the mixture and salt to a mixer jar.

Grind it a smooth paste.

Heat 2 tsp of oil in a small pan and add 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds, when it splutters, add a few curry leaves.

Add the seasoning with chutney. Serve with Idli/dosa.
