Rose Milk is a tasty, refreshing, summer drink. It is so easy to make, and popular in India, Malaysia and Singapore. Rose milk is made with evaporated milk or thick milk flavoured with rose syrup which gives a pleasant pink colour to the drink and is sweetened with sugar. In India, rose milk is so popular for it is flavour and served as a welcome drink on special occasions like weddings and served during iftar in Ramadan.

In India, people require a myriad of options to keep their thirst appropriately quenched according to the weather conditions. Different kinds of drinks are available in different regions according to the availability of ingredients including local spices and herbs, like tender coconut, lemon juice and nannari sharbat are popular drinks in Tamilnadu. Notes

  • You can make variations by adding badam mix to make almond rose milk.
  • Add cardamom powder to make cardamom rose milk.
  • You can also add chopped nuts or chopped mixed fruits.
  • Rose milk essence is different from rose syrup, for 1 cup of milk you can add 2 or 3 tsp of rose syrup if it is rose milk essence add a few drops.
  • You can add 1 or 2 scoops of ice cream to make thick rose milk.
  • You can replace the rose syrup with Rooh afza.

Ingredients
  • 4 cups Full fat Milk (1 litre)
  • ½ cup Sugar (100 grams)
  • 6 tsp Rose Syrup
Instructions
  1. Boil 1 liter of milk.

  2. Add sugar and cook till it dissolves.

  3. Add rose syrup and combine well.

  4. Strain the milk to avoid the milk solids.

  5. Cool completely and serve chilled with ice cubes or refrigerate for 2 hours.
