Soya chunks cutlet is a delicious evening snack made with soya chunks and potatoes. It is a yummy and healthy snack recipe, done within 15 – 20 minutes, best served as an after-school snack. You can serve this with ketchup, chilli sauce, or mint chutney.

Some Tips to Make Delicious Soy Cutlets

  • You can add other vegetables of your choice with soya chunks and potatoes (carrot, beetroot, peas).
  • Squeeze the water well while adding it to the mixer jar after the soya chunks have boiled.
  • Do not grind the meal maker finely, just grind it coarsely.
  • You can toast the cutlet on dosa tawa or you can deep fry it in oil.
  • Kids will love it if you make it square, rectangular, and heart-shaped instead of the (round ) regular cutlet.

Ingredients 

  • Soya chunks / Meal Maker – 1 cup – 50g
  • Potatoes – 2 (boiled)
  • Large Onion – 1
  • Carrot – 1
  • Cooking Oil – 2 tsp + For frying
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as required
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Chili Powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – a little
  • Maida flour – 2 tsp
  • Bread Crumbs – as needed

Recipe 

Step 1

In a bowl add 2 cups water and bring to a boil. Turn off the stove after adding 1 cup of soya chunks with it. Keep the mealmaker in the boiled water for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes squeeze the water well and add the mealmaker to the mixer jar. Grind it coarsely.

Step 2

Add 2 tsp of oil to a pan. When the oil is hot add 1 large onion finely chopped. After the onion is slightly translucent, add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste. Once the raw smell leaves, add the required amount of salt. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp coriander powder and 1 tsp chilli powder. Saute until the chili powder’s raw smell leaves.

Step 3

Add 1 grated carrot, cook until the carrot beecomes soft, and add the grinded soya chunks and stir. Then mash the two boiled potatoes well. Add and mix well with the seasoning and then sprinkle a little coriander and turn off the stove.

Step 4

Roll the prepared mixture into small balls to desired shape. Then mix 2 tablespoons maida flour with water and dissolve. Dip the prepared cutlets in the maida mixture and roll it in the bread crumbs. 

Step 5

Heat oil in a pan and add the cutlets one by one and fry over medium heat. Drain the oil until both sides are golden brown. Delicious soya cutlets can be served with chili sauce, ketchup or mint chutney.
