Gobi Manchurian / Restaurant style cauliflower Manchurian

Gobi Manchurian is Indo-Chinese fusion food. It is known that Gobi Manchurian have been originally prepared by the Chinese people lied in Kolkata. It is a mouth-melting appetizer/snack. It’s famous street food in India and an Indo-Chinese dish. It is one of the items on all special occasions, gettogether, and potluck. Gobi Manchurian generally a time-consuming recipe along with some effort even though it will give an outstanding result. You can enjoy this wonderful starter with rice or noodles.

Gobi Manchurian is often confused with gobi fry and gobi masala. Gobifry and gobi 65 are the same, it is prepared with the inspiration of chicken 65, Manchurian is different from that, we will toss the fried gobi in sauteed vegetables and sauce, gobi masala is fried cauliflower is tossed in Indian style onion, tomato masala.

 

Apart from cauliflower, you can make a Manchurian starter with some other vegetables like broccoli, potato, or mixed vegetables with this same recipe. Gobi Manchurian goes well with fried rice and noodles. You can also make Gobi Manchurian as semi gravy, for that before adding fried florets, add 2 tsp of cornflour with ½ cup of water, add it to the sautéed mix, and stir. Boil the gravy for 3 to 5 minutes.  Add florets mix everything well boil for 2 or 3 minutes.

Ingredients
For Cauliflower fry
  • 300 grams Cauliflower
  • 2 tbsp Maida
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour/cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Garam masala
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil for frying
Manchurian Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/4 cup Chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp Chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp Chopped garlic
  • 2 tbsp Green onion whites
  • 2 Green chilis chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp Crushed pepper
  • 1 tbsp Light soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup Chopped bell peppers
  • Chopped green onion to sprinkle
  • Salt as needed
Instructions
For Cauliflower fry
  1. Boil water in a pan, add 1/2 tbsp of salt and add 300 grams of cauliflower florets.

  2. Cook for 3-4 minutes, drain the water and keep it aside.

  3. Add 2 tbsp maida, 2 tbsp cornflour, 1 tbsp chili powder, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1/2 tbsp garam masala, and needed salt in cauliflower.

  4. Add little water and combine everything well.

  5. Heat oil in the pan, and deep fry the cauliflower florets.

  6. Cook till golden brown.

  7. Once done, remove from oil, drain it in the paper towel.

Manchurian
  1. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan.

  2. Add 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1 tbsp chopped ginger, 1 tbsp chopped garlic, 2 green chilis, 2 tbsp spring onions, saute till it becomes light brown color.

  3. Add needed salt and 1/2 tbsp crushed pepper and mix well.

  4. Now add 1/4 cup of chopped bell peppers.

  5. Add 1 tbsp light soy sauce and 2 tbsp tomato sauce.

  6. Cook on high flame for 30 seconds.

  7. Now add fried cauliflower.

  8. Combine well, sprinkle some green onions, toss on high flame for a minute.

  9. Serve hot.

Recipe Notes
