Milk cake is made with milk, like Palkova. But it is different from palkova. Though this can be done with simple ingredients but will take two to three hours to do. This can be made at a low cost with the same flavour available at sweet stalls. Milk cake is done with, milk, sugar, butter, a little ghee, chopped almonds, and pistachios.

  • Use whole fat milk / full cream milk.
  • You can use either vinegar or lemon juice to make paneer.
  • The water drained from the paneer can be used for cooking without wastage.
  • Keep it on a low flame when making milk cake, as there is a chance of burning.
  • You can use a nonstick or iron pan or use a heavy saucepan.
  • You can add 2 – 3 tsp of ghee if desired.
  • You can add sugar to your taste.
  • You can add a little saffron if desired.

Ingredients to make Paneer

  • 1 Liter of Milk 
  • 2 to 3 tsp Vinegar or Lemon juice

Ingredients to make Milk Cake

  • 2 litres of milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 5 crushed almonds
  • 5 crushed pistachios

Recipe

Step by Step Pictures

1. Heat 1 litre of milk in a saucepan.

2. When the milk is hot add 2 to 3 tsp of vinegar or lemon juice.

3. Stir constantly after adding vinegar, then you can see the milk curdling.

4. Put a clean cotton cloth in a strainer and strain the curdled milk over it.

5. Pour clean water and rinse once.

6. Leave to hang for 30 to 45 minutes or until the water drains.

7. After the water has drained, take the paneer apart.

8. Put on a plate, crumble it, and set aside.

Milk Cake Making Method

1. In a wide iron pan or nonstick pan, add 2 litres of milk.

2. Now stir over medium heat.

3. After an hour the milk will be reduced to half. Now stir again over low heat.

4. After one and a half hours, add the prepared paneer and mix.

5. Mix well then add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder and 3/4 cup of sugar.

6. Add a tablespoon of ghee.

7. Stir until it thickens and does not stick to the pan.

8. Transfer the prepared milk kova to a greased pan and press lightly.

9. Add powdered almonds and pistachios and press lightly again.

10. After five to six hours cut into small pieces, and serve.
