Filter Coffee is the traditional coffee of India, mainly in South India. Filter coffee is made by adding freshly brewed decoction and sugar to thick full-fat frothy milk. Although it is known by many names like Madras Coffee, Mylapore Filter Coffee, Mysore Coffee, Palakkad Iyer Coffee, Kumbakonam Degree Coffee is the traditional coffee of Tamil Nadu. 


Tips to Make Delicious Filter Coffee

  • Use full-fat milk for the filter coffee, if skimmed milk is used, coffee may not be perfect to taste.
  • I have used a blend of 85% coffee 15% chicory in Cothas coffee. You can make filter coffee by adding desired coffee powder.
  • If the pure coffee powder is used, the decoction can be taken only once, and the chicory-mixed coffee powder decoction can be taken 2 to 3 times.
  • You can add sugar to your liking.
  • I have provided the ingredients needed to make coffee for 2 people, you can add coffee powder, milk, and sugar as per your requirement.

Ingredients
  • Coffee Powder - 3 Tbsp
  • Water - 150ml
  • Milk - 300ml
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - as required
Instructions
  1. A coffee filter is important to prepare filter coffee.  Wash it clean and put the top filter on the fire to remove any blockages.

  2. Add 1 tsp of sugar to the filter.

  3. Then add 3 Tbsp coffee powder.

  4. Press it lightly.

  5. Add 150ml of water to a pan.

  6. Boil the water well and then pour it into the coffee filter.

  7. Now cover it.

  8. Add the required amount of sugar to the coffee tumbler.

  9. Add ¼ tumbler of drained decoction.

  10. Add 300ml or the required amount of milk in a pan.

  11. When the milk comes to a boil, pour it into the coffee tumbler.

  12. Mix until frothy.

  13. Delicious filter coffee is ready to serve.
