Indian Style Tomato Spaghetti | Tomato Pasta | Spicy tomato spaghetti

Indian style Tomato Spaghetti is a blend of spaghetti with Indian herbs and spices. It is different from the usual Indian lunch items. It is a delicious, simple and filling meal.

This is not the food of traditional Italian cuisine. It is an Indo-Italian fusion dish, Italian spaghetti with Indian spices and herbs to satisfy Indian taste buds. Trust me guys, this recipe is a delicious recipe it will definitely appeal to anyone.

The same can be done with Indian style tomato pasta. I used fewer vegetables in this recipe. You can add carrots and sweet corn, broccoli and olives, these vegetables go well with this dish.

How to cook spaghetti?

  • Boil water in a large pot. Add salt generously and add 1 tsp of cooking oil.
  • Add uncooked dry pasta, stir on medium-high heat for 10 – 12 minutes or cook as per the instructions on the package.
  • Drain it using a strainer.
  • Rinse under tap water to stop the cooking process.
  • Toss in olive oil, so the spaghetti will not stick together.
  • Cover with a lid to keep it from drying out.

Notes

  • Pasta is an excellent source of energy and you can choose whole wheat varieties for more protein and fibre.
  • Please cook al dende. Otherwise, we end up with overcooked spaghetti that is not tasty and succulent.
  • You can add grated mozzarella cheese before turning off the flame.

Ingredients
  • 200 grams Spaghetti
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1 Capsicum
  • 1 Tomato
  • 1/2 cup Spring onion Chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  • Salt as needed
Instructions
Preparation
  1. Cook the spaghetti according to the instructions in the pack or boil a lot of water in a pot, add 1 tsp of oil and a generous amount of salt and add the pasta. Cook for 10-12 minutes. When done, drain the water, rinse with tap water and toss with olive oil. Set aside.

  2. Chop onions and tomato and cut capsicum into your desired size. 

Method
  1. Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan, add onions, saute till it becomes translucent.

  2. Add the spring onions and cook for a minute.

  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook till the raw smell goes off.

  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook till it becomes mushy.

  5. Add salt, chilli powder and garam masala powder.

  6. Now add a little water, and cook until the oil oozes from the sides.

  7. Add the capsicum and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. 

  8. Add pasta, mix everything well.

  9. Cook for 2-3 minutes on a medium flame.

  10. Serve hot.
