Masala Pasta is an Indian style pasta prepared with pasta, spice powders and herbs. It is good for breakfast and evening snacks or dinner and perfect for kids’ lunch boxes. Pasta is generally prepared with sauce and cheese, obviously, red sauce and white sauce pasta are popular around the world, mac and cheese are one of the regular breakfasts in the United States. Masala pasta is not a traditional dish or the perfect pasta type. It was Indianized because the taste buds of the Indians could not be satisfied without the spiciness.

Notes

  • Many varieties of pasta are available in stores such as wheat pasta, multi-grain pasta, regular white pasta, millet pasta, etc. You can use any type of pasta.
  • Boil the pasta in water for 10 to 15 minutes or follow the instructions on the packet.
  • I have added capsicum in 2 -3 colours and you can add to your liking. 
  • You can add chilli powder according to your spiciness.
  • I didn’t add vegetables. You can add your favourite vegetables like carrots, potatoes and peas.
  • You can also sprinkle some grated cheese while serving.
  • Adding green chilis is optional.

Ingredients
  • Pasta - 2 cups - 200g
  • Cooking oil - 3 tsp
  • Capsicum - as required
  • Onions - 2 
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Green chillis - 3
  • Coriander leaves - as needed
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - ½ tsp
  • Garam masala - ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder - ½ tsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Tomato sauce -  1 tsp
  • Lemon juice - 1 tsp 
Instructions
  1. Add the required amount of water to a bowl and add ½ tsp of salt and 1 tsp of oil.

  2. When the water is boiling, add 2 cups of pasta.

  3. Cook for 10 - 15 minutes or cook until it becomes soft.

  4. Once done, rinse under tap water and set aside.

  5. Add 2 tsp oil to a pan.

  6. When it is hot, add chopped capsicum. Cook until golden brown.

  7. Once done, set aside.

  8. Now add 2 chopped onions.

  9. Add 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste, 3 green chillies and a few coriander leaves. 

  10. Cook until the raw smell leaves.

  11. Then chop 2 tomatoes and add them to the mixture.

  12. Add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp garam masala and add ½ tsp coriander powder with the required salt. Cook until oil separates on the sides.

  13. Add a tsp of tomato sauce and mix well. 

  14. Add the cooked pasta.

  15. After mixing well, add chopped coriander leaves and 1 tsp of lemon juice and stir.

  16. Delicious masala pasta is ready to serve.

Method
