Popcorn chicken is kids favourite snack. It is so popular in KFC, but this can be done very easily with available ingredients at home. It is made with maida, cornflour, and boneless chicken. It tastes great with mayonnaise, tomato sauce, and chilli sauce. Make delicious popcorn chicken and enjoy.
Some Tips for Delicious Popcorn Chicken
- To make popcorn, use skinless, boneless chicken.
- Marinate for 1 to 8 hours. The more time you marinate the chicken the better the taste will be.
- Leave the marinated chicken in a cool place and if you soak it overnight, keep it in the refrigerator.
- Cornflour is optional, it can be replaced with maida/all-purpose flour.
- When frying, cook on medium-high flame and fry until golden brown.
- Instead of adding garlic powder & ground ginger, you can add ginger garlic paste.

Crunchy Chicken fry
- Boneless Chicken - 400g
- Salt - as required
- Chili Powder - ½ tsp
- Chili Sauce - ½ tsp
- Garlic Powder - ½ tsp
- Ginger Ginger - ½ tsp
- Buttermilk - ¼ cup
- Egg - 1
- Maida/All-purpose flour - 1 cup - 140g
- Corn flour - ½ cup - 80g
- Salt - as required
- Chilli powder - ½ tsp
- Cooking oil - for frying

In a bowl add the skin, boneless chicken pieces (cubed).

Add the required amount of salt, chilli powder ½ tsp, chilli sauce ½ tsp, garlic powder ½ tsp, ground ginger ½ tsp.

Add 1/4 cup of buttermilk.

Mix well, cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

In a wide bowl/plate, add 1 cup flour.

Add ½ cup of cornflour.

Add the required salt.

Add ½ tsp of chilli powder.

Mix everything well.

After 1 hour, add 1 beaten egg into the chicken and mix well.

Dip the chicken pieces one by one in the flour mixture.

Dip all the chicken pieces in the same way.

Add the ice water to the remaining masala mixture.

Put the chicken pieces in the ice water for 2-3 seconds and again dip them in the same flour.

Heat oil over medium high heat. Add the chicken pieces one by one.

Flip over frequently and cook until golden brown and set aside.
