Sirudhanya Vada/ Millet Vada

Sirudanya vada or Millet vada is a tasty and healthy snack, perfect along with evening coffee or tea, this millet vada is made with Kodo millet, foxtail millet, quinoa, moong dal, and chana dal. This recipe is similar to paruppu vada, I have added millets and moong dal along with chana dal, it’s really tasty, don’t forget to try this yummy dish.

Ingredients
  • 4 tsp Kodo millet
  • 4 tsp Foxtail millet
  • 4 tsp Quinoa
  • 4 tsp Moong dal
  • 1/4 cup Chana dal
  • 6-8 Red chilis
  • 1/2 cup Onion/shallots (chopped)
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Hand full Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp Jeera
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil for frying
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add Kodo millet, foxtail millet, quinoa, moong dal, chana dal and add red chilis.
  2. Soak for at least 2 hours. 
  3. Once done drain water.
  4. In a mixer jar, add soaked red chili, onions, curry leaves, salt, jeera, fennel seeds, and coriander leaves. Give a quick pulse.
  5. Add Kodo millet, foxtail millet, quinoa, moong dal, chana dal in the mixer jar.
  6. Make it as a coarse paste.
  7. Keep the ground mixer in a bowl, mix well.
  8. Make it as small patties.
  9. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan, add vada one by one.
  10. Fry it on a medium flame for few minutes or fry till golden brown.
  11. Once done, drain it in a paper towel and serve hot.

Method
